AlkoSafe Key Features

ALKOSAFE SALIVA ALCOHOL TEST STRIPS

AlkoSafe test strips are rapid, highly sensitive tools designed for the determination of relative Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) in saliva specimens. These strips detect recent alcohol consumption as long as the alcohol concentration in the blood remains above the detection threshold.

In addition to saliva testing, these strips can be used as a quick “dip test” to detect alcohol in any clear liquid.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does 0.20‰ mean?

0.20‰ means 20 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. AlkoSafe lists 0.20‰ as its detection threshold for personal saliva screening. Its colour guide provides an approximate indication; it does not provide an exact blood alcohol reading or establish fitness to drive.

The sample depends on the test. AlkoSafe uses saliva and a colour comparison guide for personal screening. Follow the instructions supplied with your pack. Official breath or blood testing has a separate purpose and cannot be replaced by this self-check.

For AlkoSafe, a blue or purple colour change indicates alcohol detection according to the product instructions: do not drive. No colour change must not be read as proof that you have no alcohol in your body or that driving is safe. Read the result against the pack instructions.

Choose the sample and purpose first. AlkoSafe screens a person’s saliva. A test intended to investigate methanol in a drink examines a different sample for a different purpose. An AlkoSafe result cannot establish whether a drink is free of methanol or safe to consume.

A breathalyser uses a breath sample to assess alcohol level; AlkoSafe uses saliva for personal screening. AlkoSafe does not replace official breathalyser or blood testing.

It can. Elimination takes time; sleeping does not speed it up. Neither feeling normal nor a negative personal screening result establishes fitness to drive. No fixed waiting time establishes permission to drive.

Important: AlkoSafe is a personal screening tool for individual decision-making. It is not a substitute for official law enforcement breathalyser or blood tests. A negative AlkoSafe result cannot be used to challenge a positive police test in court. If AlkoSafe shows any colour change, do not drive. Always wait at least 15 minutes after eating, drinking, or smoking before testing.
